Secrets of Kandahar – Saucers

[New-wave Synthpop, Synthwave, 2024] directed by Petr Chroustovsky

One day, under the veil of the mystical sky of the world of Kandahar, a strange phenomenon resembling a falling comet appeared. Its light was so dazzling that it shone even in broad daylight. The inhabitants of the only city on this distant planet, entranced by the celestial spectacle, set out on a journey to find the site of the mysterious star’s impact. To their surprise, it was no ordinary comet. At the impact site, they discovered a flying saucer-shaped spaceship that had landed on their land. Visitors from a galaxy far away, travelling through space, brought messages of music, love, knowledge and technological progress. Their journey through space revealed to them that nothing is more important than these values.

The shooting star takes the form of the protagonist, Lenka Baier, who is warmly welcomed by the people of Kandahar. Undeterred by the unknown, they cast aside their fears and embrace the wisdom and gifts from the universe, hoping that they will lead them to ascend. Human-like beings, clad in space suits, with hyper-technical musical instruments and exposed, “naked” technology, stepped out of the spaceship. To greet them, they played their songs, carrying a message of knowledge and progress.

Under the influence of this new knowledge, the city and its inhabitants began to change. Agriculture, transport and society as a whole were gradually transformed in the spirit of technoptimism. New means of transport and robots made people’s lives easier, while the gigantic fruits of miraculous agro-culture brought abundance. As prosperity spread, people gained more time for self-development and entertainment. The city came alive with nightlife that pulsed to the beat of synthwave beats.

But nothing is free. Visitors demanded that Lena become one of them. And so she left Kandahar to travel the universe with them. They will never be alone again.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
They came fromthe shadows in the dead of the night
I saw the shapes and heard the silent hum
In the night, so cold, my body was numb
They brought whispers of knowledge ancient and vast
The secrets of the universe in their grasp

[Chorus]
Flying over, lights so blue
Come to teach and come to view
Flying over, wisdom’s clue
From the night they bring what’s new

[Verse 2]
I felt the shiver as they circled ’round
No words spoken, yet I heard the sound
They transcended time, defied all space
Understanding dawned on my face
From the realms unknown, they traveled far
Bearing truths beyond the furthest star

[Chorus]
Flying over, lights so blue
Come to teach and come to view
Flying over, wisdom’s clue
From the night they bring what’s new

[Bridge]
Beams of light and visions clear
Alien knowledge drawing near
Darkness fades as the truth ignites
Miracles cast in the darkest nights

[Chorus]
Flying over, lights so blue
Come to teach and come to view
Flying over, wisdom’s clue
From the night they bring what’s new

[Robotic Chorus]
AI love, now drifting far,
In the light of Kandahar.
Once so bright, now fading fast,
A love that couldn’t last.

[Robotic Outro]
Gone away, his circuits still,
No more love, no more thrill.
In Kandahar, she stands and weeps,
For a love lost in the deeps.[Verse 1]

The Bungle Bungle – Purnululu NP (Australie occidentale)
